With yet another attempt at using a to-do list, I’m trying out Todoist. Overall, it’s a great app, and I really hope I keep using it (or really, anything at all).

I recently encountered something that felt like a bug, but it turned out to be just a confusing UI.

I was tweaking my to-do list, moving tasks around, rescheduling existing ones, and adding new ones. Suddenly, I realized that my “Today” view was no longer showing “Overdue” tasks. There was still an “Overdue” label with an option to reschedule the tasks, but the section itself was empty. For a moment, I wondered if I had no overdue tasks (!), but that was definitely not the case.

I tried changing a bunch of random settings – sort, filter, group – but no luck. I even found other people with the same problem on Reddit, but no solutions (a similar problem did have a solution). After a few more minutes of randomly trying things, I figured it out! Tapping the “>” arrow next to the “Overdue” section expanded the collapsed section, and there were all my overdue tasks!

TIL: If your Overdue section is incorrectly empty in the Todoist iOS app, tap the “>” arrow to expand the section.
